iPhone 6S Low Battery Crash

I have seen a couple of questions in regards to my issue on here but none of the solutions have worked for me.

Occasionally my iPhone 6S will crash, then when I try to turn it back on it displays the low battery screen. After a couple of tries it will turn back on, but when I try to unlock it, the status bar disappears and it crashes again. The last few times this has happened when my battery percentage is between 10%-20%, although I have seen it happen at as much at 50%. Coincidentally it always happens when I am playing music through Spotify, either connected to my bluetooth car system or out of the phone itself.

This is the second iPhone 6S this has happened with, I returned my last phone as my local Apple Store couldn't figure out what the issue was and they issued me with a new one. I have attached a copy of a crash log retrieved from the device after one of the crash occasions.

Appreciate any help, thanks!

I’ve got the same issue with my iPhone 6.

As far as I can see for me it started with iOS 11…

The strange thing is that 'Capacity' in my reports is often non-zero, so the iPhone should know there is some battery capacity left…

However, it crashes because of low battery and needs some some to let it power on again.

I've got exactly the same problem:

  • phone dies/crashes with plenty of battery left
  • when restarting, it indicates it needs to be plugged in
  • after retrying to restart, it wakes up again (battery indicator indicating there is still battery left)
  • when filling in the PIN of my SIM, the phone crashes again

Tried everything from resetting network settings, re-calibrating battery, restoring from iCloud, restoring from iTunes, to completely restoring the phone to it's factory defaults...

Crash log looks very similar...

I went to the Apple store. They performed some battery diagnostics, but they couldn't see anything wrong (battery was apparently on 90% capacity, which seemed normal). After that they performed somekind of firmware reset, and told me to setup the phone as new (not restoring from an iCloud backup). Up till know I haven't had the issue anymore ..

I was facing this issue now. My Iphone6s will shut down at about 30-40 percents.

I have the same issue. My phone usually turns OFF when I have from 30% to 20% of battery left. The problem is that my battery still has 87% of life and it is still in the quite good condition. I have tried set my phone from scratch, but the problem is still there. I have discovered a trick that helped me sometimes, but not always. What I have found out is that if you didn't have your "low power mode" enabled, your phone is OFF, you should turn it ON holding the HOME and POWER buttons, after you need to quickly enter your PIN and will be quick enough to navigate to the battery menu and enable "Low Poer Mode", it sometimes help and the phone becomes alive up to discharged to 1%. I have even tried to turn the "Low Power Mode" ON and after 5 minutes turn it OFF, phone still worked great. I think that this is related to the software bug, and we need apple to create an application to calibrate your battery. Or maybe it is already created?, this is my log:

In any case, this is my log:

I think I might found a solution, that "might" resolve the issue.

- I have my battery charged 100%

- I have my power-bank charged 100% (PB capacity is 3200mAh)

- I have installed VLC Player

Steps:

- add a lot of videos to your iPhone

- turn off WiFi and Bluetooth (I have even put it to the airplane mode)

- Start video and play all the videos without interrupting and turning off the device

- wait until the battery is discharged to 20%

- once iPhone asks you to put it to the Power Save Mode - do it

- keep playing videos until the phone battery is dead

I have used power-bank to perform steps above 2 times (I better prefer to charge it from power-bank), so now my phone works fine for over 2 days already.

Why it "might" be a solution? By playing the video, the battery is discharged smoothly without any extreme peaks. So the phone software may start to treat it as a healthy one. Well, I don't know, it worked for me, it might help to someone else.
