Apr 20, 2016 6:25 AM in response to Robert36340by léonie,Which version of Aperture do you have on your iMac? And which version of MacOS X on your MacBook Pro?
If the systems match, you can simply copy the Aperture application over to the other machine. The AppStore versions of Aperture (Aperture 3.3. or newer) can be installed by copying the application.
On Yosemite (MacOS X 10.10.3) or newer MacOS X versions you need Aperture 3.6, and that requires an AppStore version of Aperture, see this User Tip: Updating to Aperture 3.6 After the Release of Photos

Is the installer disk giving you the warning "Certificate expired" or similar? You could change the system date back to the year when you purchased the installer, and install this version, but it is no use, because you cannot update this version to Aperture 3.6.
The installer disk will install Aperture 3.1, a version that can no longer be updated anyway. Aperture is no longer sold from the App Store, and you can only install Aperture from your Purchases history at the App Store. This will install Aperture 3.6. Updating is not possible any longer.
all are the current versions of them
Does that mean, you haveMacOS X 10.11.4 installed, and Aperture 3.6?
If you have Aperture 3.6 installed on your iMac, copy Aperture 3.6 from the Applications folder on your iMac to a thumbs drive, then copy it into the Applications folder on your MacBook Pro (or the Applications folder in your Home folder, if the system will not let you copy it into the main Applications folder).

Apr 22, 2016 11:53 PM in response to léonieby Pagnol,I love Aperture. I've tried everything (Photoshop, Lightroom, C1,...) Photos is the worse of all. I still use Aperture. I just can't change !

Apr 25, 2016 9:31 AM in response to Robert36340by Alcaucil,Apple should start using again Aperture, Photos is a really bad program even worse than iPhoto. I can't understand why Apple quit using Aperture. I edit my photos with Lightroom, but Aperture is very good to organize photos and for extra edition. Photos is de worst app photo edition I have ever tried.

May 16, 2016 10:40 AM in response to Pagnolby Terence Devlin,Hating Photos is pointless. It's not and never was intended to be a replacement for Aperture. Face it guys, Apple has got out of the Pro-Shooter software market. No point wishing, get on with the new reality.

May 16, 2016 10:43 AM in response to Alcaucilby Csound1,Although Photos is superior to iPhoto (as a photo editor) it is far inferior to Aperture, but Aperture is gone. Photos is free, it is worth what you pay for it.

May 16, 2016 12:39 PM in response to Csound1by Pagnol,I would love to pay for an Aperture come back

May 16, 2016 1:28 PM in response to Csound1by léonie,Photos is still new, and if Apple is listening, it may turn into a great application, given time. I am using it because it integrates well with the other Apple applications, and because I can keep my photo library in sync across my four Macs. iCloud Photo Library makes my life much easier.
What still is lacking badly, is everything that made Aperture great. The ability to customize the workspace for an efficient workflow, the ability to work with metadata, the brushed adjustments. There is no freedom for creativity in Photos. Everything is automatic. The layout of book pages and aspect ratio of pictures, even the sequence of slides in a slideshow. Not to be able to control which photos will be shown together on a slide or book page is intolerable for artists. I hope, that Apple will understand that it is not only the professionals that need these features, but the majority of the users who like to be creative and need tools to create their own designs, and do not want to be leg-shackled by predefined designs that cannot be adjusted to the own projects.

May 16, 2016 2:55 PM in response to léonieby David Strait,Ha! Sorry… I had to laugh when I got to the part of your reply that said: “What still is lacking badly, is everything that made Aperture great.”
I agree completely!
The only thing wrong with Photos is that’s it’s missing everything that made Aperture great! Other than that, it’s a wonderful program!
