Podcast Connect Question

How do I ask for help on a podcast from iTunes if I've submitted the show through a third party, like Libsyn - and not iTunes? Do I need to create an account just for that purpose - or may I use my Apple ID?

I'm producing-editing two shows. One has a missing episode. The other has yet to post in iTunes, even though it has been nearly two weeks. I've read on this forum where I can ask for a "refresh". Question - do I have to have a specific account to request this help or will my Apple ID work for that purpose?

I've talked to Libsyn and they say to be patient. I'm only trying to do everything possible because the podcasters themselves are not happy.

Thank you,

Rich

Hi Professor,

Welcome to podcasting! Once you setup your podcast at Libsyn, you will need to submit it yourself at Podcasts Connect. Podcast hosts commonly do no submit your podcast for you. See here how to submit:

Tip: Is Diesel Performance a business? If so, consider creating an Apple ID related to your business, activating the Apple ID in iTunes, then logging in to Podcasts Connect to submit your podcast.

Regarding your feed:

http://dieselperformancepodcast.com/rss

This feed doesn't have any episodes. Consider speaking with your web host to find the URL for your podcast feed. Once you have your feed, visit the Podcasts Connect Help site to test your feed, validate, and submit: https://help.apple.com/itc/podcasts_connect/#/itc4f0f5ac7d

Thank you Podcast_Fan - I am a big fan too!

The podcast is business related, so I will create an ID accordingly.

Let me study the iTunes submission process. I don't remember doing that with the diesel podcast - I thought Libsyn made that happen - but given how new I am to this stuff, I'm sure I'm wrong.

I will follow the show submission steps and report back to see if that worked.

Thank you.

Quite obviously your podcast was submitted as it's in the Store. If you didn't submit it yourself then evidently Libsyn must have, presumably using your Apple ID. If you can't log into Podcasts Connect with your ID you will have to ask Libsyn what ID they used.

However the missing episode, 'Truck Advisor - Mark Downing', was posted only yesterday and it's quite normal for it not to hjave appeared in the Store yet. It normally takes 1-2 days for a new episode to appear in the Store so in this case Libsyn are probably correct - just wait.

The feed the Store is using is at http://dieselperformancepodcast.libsyn.com/rss and this is OK. The URL quoted above and described correctly as empty redirects to a Comments feed which is evidently not in use.

It looks like all is ok now with you account and your files are showing in iTunes.

Please note - Libsyn does not submit your feed to iTunes. Podcast producers should not let their hosts submit. You want to submit from your own iTunes account as you will then have access to your Podcast connect account for your show. If a host submits for you then they have the control of your show in iTunes.
