Calls to my phone ..93 and my wifes phone ..92 show up on recent calls on both phones. why?

My wife and I have iPhone 6s's with both numbers linked on a single wireless account. We also use the same appleid on both devices (as well as two iPads) to more easily share items. the issue is that calls to either phone (from at least some callers, maybe all) show up on the "recent calls" list on both phones. Why is this and is there a setting somewhere I can change that will make "recent calls" show only on the phone and number called? Not really a bit issue for us but a nuisance.

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.3.1, 64gb

You may be able to make "recent calls" work the way you want while still sharing an Apple ID, but sooner or later you will run into other problems. Sharing an Apple ID with two persons is not recommended. Do not do this. Each person should have their own Apple ID. (Using one Apple ID by one person with multiple devices is OK.) Use Family Sharing instead. These should get you started:
