Does anyone know if it's possible to use a Mackie protocol control device with Mainstage?

I'm attempting to control Mainstage using a Behringer X32 desk. Ideally, I would like to use the desk's built in Mackie (or Hui) mode as this provides bi-directional communication of fader, pan, mute etc positions as well as levels and track names. Such communication works reasonably well with Logic but I've not been able to deduce a way of accomplishing this with Mainstage. It should, of course, be possible to achieve similar results using the usual 'assign' method of linking MIDI devices to Mainstage but this seems to cause the desk significant problems when I attempt to do so. Any advice would be most welcome...

Mainstage 3.2.4

Apple MacBook Pro (2008) OS 10.11.3

Behringer X32 (Firmware version 2.1.6)

Logic Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)
