Q: Using an external source through Photos app on Mac
Hello all!
Does anybody know if it's possible to have the Photos app access photos from a different source? Currently the photos app will only see what's on your device. However, I only have a 128GB Macbook so don't keep my photos on there. I am looking for a way to access my photos through the WD My Cloud drive I have through the Photos app. The reason for this is I was hoping to use iCloud photo sharing so I can edit photos with my iPad and then email them off and post them on my Mac. I also prefer the Photos app on all the devices over WD my cloud app.
I know it seems a little confusing but I'm happy to explain to anyone who doesn't quite understand how I've explained it.
Thanks in advance!
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

Yyour entire Photos Library can be moved to an external disk. Simply copy it to the new disc, then double-click on the Photos Library file. This will "teach" Photos where the images are stored.
When you enable iCloud Photo Library on your Mac and your devices, you will indeed have access to all your files from iCloud.
A warning: iCloud Photo Library is NOT a backup solution for your irreplacable photos and videos. You should still set your Photos Library on your Mac to Copy Originals. It is OK to keep your on-device Libraries as Optimized. This will conserve storage space on the iDevices.
