Q: my first generation IPad has totally quit working.  I have no screen.  Is there something I can do?

I'm not sure what you have no screen means, but if the screen is black and unresponsive, you can try the steps in here.

SInce your iPad is the first generation iPad, your battery may be dead now. You could take it to an Apple Store for evaluation, but at this point, I don't think that I would want a replacement iPad first edition. I would look at a newer model Apple refurb, if cost is a concern. If you can afford it and want a newer iPad, the new iPad Pro 2 or the iPad Air 2 are pretty sweet.
