"Date last opened" info won't update in finder

Question

"Date last opened" info won't update in finder

some files update. Others won't. Agnostic of file type, size or location

MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

FWIW, there are a number of bits of information that don't always update in the Finder such as version numbers of software that were just updated, recent files, etc. I suspect it has to do with when OSX runs normal maintenance routines. A restart, or a log off then on, or a shutdown, then boot, restarting the Finder etc. may resolves it.

It's a mystery.

Thanks for your input Dialabrain. Unfortunately this problem has persisted for many many months. During this time I have updated the OS and restarted the computer many times.

You're welcome. What I was trying to say is it seems to be normal behavior so updating and restarting or reinstalling isn't going to change anything.

Hard to believe that it just all of a sudden started happening out of the blue to files that never had that problem before. Anyway, I'm hoping that if I make enough noise on here someone will be able to help eventually!
