Why is the default avatar Male? In fact, why is there not a generic female avatar available?
Don't know. If you don't like the default avatar you get when you sign up, just change it to something else.

Where are you seeing the male avatar? If you are referring to the image with your post that looks like my wife, and she is no male believe me.. How are you determining that it is male? What are the distinguishing features in the image that tell you it is a male?

Apr 21, 2016 8:42 AM in response to seventy oneby ChitlinsCC,If you recall a while back, the Jive default replaced the AppleJive avatar for quite a long period... until somebody at Apple noticed that it had happened and changed it back!
I did a little detective work back then and found that the default avatar is indeed in the array of choices on the change page - where it was the JiveDefault. When it changed back to AppleJiveDefault, it seems to have changed 'positions' in the array (?).
I have also noticed that there are many fewer(NONE?) new user 'custom' avatars automatically created from the Profile Primary Photo these days. I am guessing that the default avatar switch-back and anomalous custom avatar FIX are not coincidental.

Apr 21, 2016 9:57 AM in response to Allan Jonesby seventy one,More like a stick insect. But isn't that how so many ladies look nowadays, with all this pressure on them to conform, size-wise. I have to sympathise.

Or maybe this:
Seriously, the current avatar is a dead-ringer for the head-on profile of a young lady in our area who is an accomplished guitar player and singer.
That stick figure is CLEARLY male!!
Female sticks have a DRESS on!
But you're right! Short hair and BuzzCuts on females are almost de rigueur at some point in their lives!

Are you sorry that you asked now?
