Disappearing mail from Outlook folders.

Hello

I have found previous questions about this but no answers, so am posting the problem again.

I use a Outlook on my I pad & store items in various folders, bills, holidays etc.

Several times I have opened a folder & the stored mail is there-- but disappeared as I looked at it.

I didnt do any key operations or anything the mail simply disappears upwards off the screen.

I have previously contacted Microsoft ,being their product, but they were unable to help & suggested it was an Apple problem(?)

Hope somebody can help solve this problem as I have lost several important e mails.

ps. When I check on my laptop the mail is also missing, though I have never actually seen it disappear from there.

cheers

iPad Air, iOS 8.3

That sounds like Outlook is set to show some X days of mail. For example, if your Outlook is set to show the last 7 days of mail, when you open a folder, Outlook shows the content of that folder then it does the checking. If there's anything older than 7 days, they'll disappear (not shown). They're not deleted from the mailbox. Just a guess.

Generally when I troubleshoot a problem, I'll minimize the variables as much as possible. It becomes very confusing if you add more variables to the scenario. In this case, your the laptop creates more confusion so take it out of the picture. I mean, stop using laptop mail app from checking your mailbox until you resolve the problem. Isolate your problem to Outlook app on the iPad + your mailbox. Have you tried removing Outlook app and adding it back?

If the email account you are using runs on MS' Office365 product, might want to read this I posted elsewhere:

Are you or your users "blessed" with having to deal with your email in Microsoft's Office365 online product? Have you had mail mysteriously disappear or fail to arrive recently?

In their infinite wisdom, the geniuses behind the email component of Office365 (labeled Outlook, but behaves like and has to be profiled like Exchange in iOS) decided to "ease your workload" and imposed an automatic filter without any warning late last year. Now, every bit of incoming email gets analyzed and if determined to be 'unimportant' will get dumped unceremoniously into a new Clutter folder. Where it will hide forevermore, while you scratch the noggin wondering where that all-so-important mail you needed since yesterday went. What's more, it is not altogether clear what the initial rules are for that classification and it is a moving target as it purportedly "learns" from you and "adjusts" accordingly.

If you won't have any of this stupidity, go to your Mail Options list, locate the Clutter item and disable the function (two checkboxes if it has already done it stuff). Then you can hunt for the Clutter folder and move any accumulated mail found in there back to the Inbox.

Hello again ShagCA

I don't usually use my lap top for e mail-- but if there is a way to enter the Outlook menu from the i pad I don't know how to find it.

I am also unsure what you mean by the Outlook app?

Outlook is set in settings, mail, contacts, calendars ----- I certainly do not have an Outlook icon on my pad.

Is this significant?

cheers.
