Remote for Thunderbolt/HDMI

If I am on vacation and wish to view my home DVR recordings, I connect my MacBook Air to the TV via Thunderbolt/HDMI cable. My question: is there a way to use a remote control to pause, rewind, etc.?? I'd prefer not having to use a super-long cable nor to keep walking over to the TV....
