can't verify apple ID because email acc it is tied too is old
cant verify my apple ID because it is tied to an old email account that is no longer active, how can i change the email address so that I can verify my ID

I Did not have to change my apple ID. I did log out of all Apple accounts and then I logged into my Apple ID profile after I put in my ID and password it took me to the email screen and did say that it needed to verify my account before proceeding however under the email field it states to either click enter to receive a verification code or gave me the option to type in a new email. I simply typed in my new email address and clicked entered and it sent the verification code to my new email account.
NOTE: if it tells you that the email account is not eligible for an Apple ID that means someone else has utilized it at one point or another so it is not available so that is the only snag you may encounter.
