Q: How to organize libraries & events

Hello,

I am very familiar with older versions of FCP, so the clip organizing in the new one is hard for me to understand.

Can anyone explain to me how to use the libraries & events to stay more organized? Or point me in the direction of an article or help page that explains it?

I'll give you background on how I use the program...I work on safety videos for a construction company. I go out & get employee interviews about why safety is important to them, and we kick-off each video with a few of their answers. Then the rest of the video is on a particular safety topic, so it includes an interview with a safety professional, some b-roll of guys working on our job sites, and narration.

I find it frustrating that when I import clips it sorts them by date, and I can't rearrange them or rename how they are grouped. For example, I would like to group all the employee clips together and call it "employee interviews" and be able to collapse it; then have a category called "field shots" or "b-roll"; and have another group for the safety professional interviews. My biggest pet peeve is the date...because I could film an employee interview today and then again next week and they are nowhere near each other when I look at my clips & I can't move them so they are all next to each other for when I want to add one to my project.

Any help would be appreciated...or if you think it's better explained in person, let me know & I'll set up a one-on-one session.

Thank you!
