where are apps for iPhone now backed up iOS 9

I deleted my apps as visible in iTunes (for the machine) and tried to transfer the purchases from my iPhone to the machine. Now I have no apps visible in iTunes, though my iPhone is loaded with apps.

What can I do to fix this?

And where are apps found now? They aren't stored locally I gather with the latest iTunes and ios9
