I want to recycle my iPod classic but can't figure out how to wipe the content clean. Also, even though it syncs with iTunes, it does not appear on my authorized list. Do I have to reauthorize it?

I want to recycle my iPod classic but can't figure out how to wipe the content clean. The settings list does not have any reset choice. Also, even though it syncs with iTunes, it does not appear on my authorized list. Do I have to deauthorize it?

An iPod (that is not an iPod touch) is not authorized with an Apple ID. It is only associated with your iTunes library for syncing purposes. So there is no command (or need) to de-authorize it.

You can erase the iPod by doing a Restore on it using iTunes.
