I need to move several libraries and their events, clips, and projects from an external drive I used with my laptop while traveling. One problem is the laptop did not survive the travels so I cannot use the "move project" feature. How do I do this and maintain the media links? Do I just copy everything to my desktop and then relink the files?

Libraries are moved in the Finder . Where is your media stored – in the library or exrternaly?

Media is stored separately (not in the library). I keep the source files in a directory called Capture Scratch...an old FCP7 convention.

You might want to export a Library XML, and open it up on a new laptop.
Since you said that your Media is stored separately, after you import the Library XML and the media is not linked, just try to relink again.

Did you try simply copy the libraries and the media folder to a new drive? Then you simply ought to open the libraries and at most have to relink some files.
Hey thanks everyone. I did just simply copy over the files, open the library and relink all the media. Once I relinked the media everything came back just fine.
