Q: Quicktime 10 crashing when split clipping and trimming

On El Capitan Quicktime Player Version 10.4 keeps crashing when I split clip and attempt to trim.

    Thanks for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
     

    You mention that Quicktime quits when you attempt to split and trim a clip. Does this happen with other Quicktime files on your Mac?
     

    To troubleshoot this, first be sure to restart your Mac by going to Apple menu > Restart. If the same thing happens, try creating a new user account on your Mac for testing purposes, and see if the same thing happens there.
