RAM install issues mini 2011

My mini won't start with 2 RAM modules installed, 4gb each. The specs match but the start up bar goes halfway and restarts. What did I do wrong?

Martian13,

As Illaas has already alluded, Macs are picky about what you use. Your symptom is indicative of one module not working. It is also possible that you inadvertently touched the edges of one of the modules. Remove the two modules and clean the edges with a rubber to wipe of any microscopic residue. Install the module immediately after the cleaning, making sure that it is properly seated. Now do the other one, once again ensuring that it is seated properly. Test. If no go, put the original back and test.
