My MacBook Pro keeps freezing (spinning wheel) even after clean install of OS X

Hello all,

After 2 years of usage, my Macbook Pro started giving those beachballs with some applications (like Preview, Mail, Safari, MS Excel, Notes, Text Edit) not responding (I can see that in Activity Monitor for some time /1 or 2 applications not responding at a time) and then they get back to normal but after some time they or some other applications freeze again, and it's over and over again all the time. I have done pretty much everything what you can see here: http://www.wikihow.com/Stop-Your-Mac-from-Freezing-Up without any and even after clean install of El Capitan I keep having the same problem (I really hoped that clean install would help but it did not at all).

Does anybody maybe had a similar issue and/or could help to solve mine? I'd appreciate any assistance.

Igor

I have this problem as well every single day for some years now. Macbook Pro late 2011. It happens often when I type in any text application or browser form. Most of the time when I place the cursor back in the middle of a text editing what I have just entered. It happens also when I copy and paste text from one app to another. Usually it happens a couple of times on every session right after a restart. I guess this bug is related to the cursor positioning, entering data.

A couple of things should be deleted from your MBP:

The torrent application is a wonderful avenue of introducing malware on your MBP.

CleanMyMac3 is a liability that may corrupt your MBP and serves no useful purpose. Please delete it:

http://macpaw.com/support/cleanmymac/knowledgebase/how-to-uninstall-cleanmymac-3

Even though you battery is 'normal', with 1,529 cycles, it has seen its better days. Old batteries can quickly fail, expand and damage the MBP. A replacement is a good idea before the problems start.

Based on the download time of the Etrecheck report, the HDD is suspect. If the performance does not improve after the Disk Utility repairs, consider replacing it.

Ciao.

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.

Launch the Console application in any one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

SYSTEM LOG QUERIES All Messages

from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

View Show Log List

from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.

Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.

Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

When you post the log extract, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the text on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

If you have an account on Pastebin, please don't select Private from the Paste Exposure menu on the page, because then no one but you will be able to see it.

Having same issues with 2010 27-inch iMac. My 2008 15-inch MacBookPro died last August and replacing hard drive did not fix it. Genius Bar said possibly logic board and $500 to fix. I decided to wait for 15-inch retina MacBookPro with Skylake (still waiting). In the meantime I migrated my stuff from my backup drive to my husbands iMac (as a different user). Shortly after that we upgraded to El Cap and same issues listed above started happening. Beach ball, keyboard delay, and freezes have progressively gotten worse. Clean install of EL Cap onTuesday did not fix it. Genius Bar diagnostic yesterday resulted in "FAILED" in huge caps across the screen. Apple is replacing HD now, but I am wondering what are the liabilities of CleanMyMac3 as that was on my MacBookPro and thus got transferred to the IMac shortly before the problems started. We had heard (after upgrading) that some "older" uMacs has problems after installing El Cap, but do you think CleanMyMac3 could have played a part? Thanks.
