Q: shortcuts in El Capitan

Hi,

I use OS 10.11.4 and FCPX 10.2.3. There is aTV set connected to the HDMI out of the MacBookPro (2012) as main monitor. When I start FCP and go into fullscreen mode (cmd-shift-F)the full screen mode appears on both the internal Mac screen and the TV set. When I only look at the film I can leave fullscreen mode via esc. When I choose a second time full screen mode, it stays in full screen, I cannot come back except by quitting FCP. This is repeatable, overtime the same.

Maybe you are experiencing a bug, but a few ideas:

    - you seem to be mirroring the desktop screen to the external display. Why would you want to do that? You can instead extend the desktop and use Window->Show Viewers on Second Display. (To turn mirroring off or on, you can go to System Preferences->Displays, or better yet use Command-F1)

-to exit fullscreen mode, did you try pressing Command-Control-F again?

    Hi Luis,

thanks for you considerations. No I am not using mirroring, I do use "Show viewer on second display". Still both screen go into fullscreen mode, which I do not understand in the first place, because this should only happen for the viewer-screen. I guess it is some sort of bug. The nasty part is, on my MacPro (Yosemite) it works on the MacBookPro of a friend it also works correctly, only on my machine it does not.

Nevertheless I will report to Apple, maybe they have an idea...

    - ok, there is one more thing, to enter full-screen mode I can do cmd-shift-F or cmd-ctrl-F, very strange both shortcuts do it. When I do it again it creates full screen again. It looks like a hick-up. (I hope this is understandable) but it never goes out of the mode. And all shortcuts are dysfunctional. It is a bug, but it is only on my machine...

Many thanks for taking care and have a good day.

On my mac, there is a difference: Command-Control-F puts the "main" interface in fullscreen (on the "first display"); Command-Shift-F puts the Viewer (on the second display) in fullscreen.

You may try deleting Final Cut Pro's preferences (hold down command-option while starting), and see if this sorts it out.

Often strange behavior is associated with corrupt preferences, so this a common troubleshooting action.

Well, on my mac cmd-shift-F makes both screens go to full screen, cmd-ctrl-F produces only a system sound.

I will contact Apple, it really feels like a bug (i erased the preferences)

    Thanks for ongoing support
