It appears to be a hardware problem. Remove the third party ram and test. If the panics persist make an appointment and take it in for service.

Yeah....start there, because thats the wrong ram for your iMac. You need: 204-pin PC3L-14900 (1867 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM

When it comes to ram I always say that the sweetness of low price is quickly replaced with the bitterness of kernel panics and potential data corruption and loss.

Have the panics stopped since you removed the ram?

Crucial doesn't list their Ballistix ram as compatible with your iMac. You should also consider buying direct from Crucial http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/Apple/imac-%28retina-5k%2C- 27-inch%2C-late-2015%29-imac17%2C1

I only use ram from either OWC or Crucial. Sometimes I've bought Crucial from Amazon but not before I check Crucials site to make sure what I'm buying is compatible. Macs are picky, real picky, about ram and the slightest variation in specifications will cause problems.

Try disconnecting the USB backup + disk and testing. The problem could also be the original ram. Normally you'd test that by installing the third party ram and removing the stock ram, but since the third party ram isn't the correct speed I wouldn't be surprised if the iMac won't start with just that installed.

I unplugged the usb hard drive. Testing now. I also ordered the crucial ram. Hopefully I can narrow it down to one or the other. Thanks again for your help.
