Can't upgrade iPhone because none in stock!

Talked my boyfriend into finally upgrading his iPhone. He likes the smaller size of the iPhone SE. Problem is, they are not in stock anywhere in our area! Really? The days of creating excitement by it being hard to get an iPhone are over for me. Why is this iPhone not in stock at any store in my area?!? I live in the center of a major U.S. city, Philadelphia. Looking for the iPhone SE, 64GB in Space Gray. Why don't I just have him order it online? Because he was hoping to replace his phone now, not in 2-3 weeks, plus he is wanting to use the $150 trade in of his iPhone 5S towards the purchase. So we are left with checking the store daily, either online or in person, with no one being able to tell us when they may get some in stock. Apple Store deliveries are always such a mystery? They don't know what's coming in on a shipment till it gets there?!? Oh wait, they do have a 16GB iPhone SE in stock in Rose Gold........NO Thank You.

Like you - I wanted to trade in my old phone against a new SE so thought I would have to wait until the SE was in stock at the Apple Store. However, after talking to the Apple staff they have recently been instructed that if yo buy the SE online (thru Apple) they will give you the trade-in value in cash if you can provide proof of purchase of the SE within 14 days. So now you can order online (still takes 2-3 weeks) and still get your trade-in at the store.
