Hellol I want to buy a Mac mini for my father for email and web surfing my question is if somthing breaks and needs repair will Apple allow him to ship it back for repair while covered under apple care ? The reason I ask is he is to old to drive and the closest authorized repair center or Apple Store is just over 100 miles from his house . I would really like to know before I purchase one.

Mini's are extremely reliable, especially with an SSD and coupled to the grid via a UPS. With no display, Intel's built-in graphics and when put in a place with sufficient circulation they will just continue working. You can tunnel into it to do the updates for it, manage it etc.
Carolyn has answered part of your question and Leopardus makes some good points. I assume you’ll set it up for him. When you do be sure to set up Back to my Mac (or a service like it) so that you can remote to his computer and do basic upkeep and repair. With my in-laws 400 miles away and very tech-phobic I was able to keep their computer in order and even show them how to do things from home.
