Brand new phone locking issue- Restore not working

I just got a brand new phone and tried to erase recovery mode because the device is picking up a random 6 digit passcode and locking. Unfortunately, its says the device is not restorable. Is there something else I can try?

I don't understand what "erase recovery mode" means. It might mean erase using recovery mode, or it might mean something quite opposite.


Anyway, try using the process described in "Erase your device with recovery mode" in the HT204306 article you attached above. If that fails, then contact Apple Support as suggested in the "Get more help" section of that same article.
