Mailboxes have disappeared from my ipad

I have recently had a problem with my ipad2 and had to have it repaired and set to factory default, which means I have lost a lot of apps, which I have since reinstalled, but have lost all my folders in the mail app, all I have is the usual Inbox, trash etc, but their were lots of other where I was saving certain emails I was getting. I have set up my email as my pop3 account with all the same setting as my pc, where I can see all my folders, but they are not exporting to the ipad. Please help!!!

not sure if pop3 support folders at all imap and exchange does but the default behaviour of pop3 is download to the device and delete from the server

so folders on the server does not really make sense but folders made by the user in the mail clients may to sort mails which one does not wish to delete

maybe you used to use imap or exchange on the iPad in which case you need to revert to that

pop3 is old and being phased out if you want to know more http://www.pop2imap.com

Hi Rudegar, thanks for the quick reply, unfortunately i am at work today so not so quick at getting back to you. I have tried both the pop and imap setting, but no luck with either on getting all my folders back were all my emails are stored.

HI Rudegar, thought I would just let you know that I have now solved the problem by completely deleting the email account and reinstalling it as an imap account. I had previously tried going to setting and changing from a pop account to imap, but it just keep saying it Couldn't verify and would switch back to pop automatically. I was at my wits end and after speaking to TalkTalk who are never any help, I deleted the account reinstalled it as imap and hey presto all my folders have come back.
