Q: iPhone 6 Plus screen freezes after iOS 9.3.1 update

I'm usually pretty lucky with iOS updates, but as the thread title states, straight after the recent 9.3.1 upgrade on my iPhone 6 Plus, the touchscreen now freezes at random times. I'm a medium to heavy user and this annoying screen freeze happens at least twice a day, sometimes as much as 7 or 8 times with only the hard buttons (home, power, volume) that still function. This never happened before the update, and the only way out is the soft reset (home+power buttons) option. This is not just localised to a couple of apps, but seems to be anything touchscreen related.

This is becoming a real pain in the neck, especially when writing an email or text message with no way to save what is already written using copy and paste, as I obviously need the touchscreen to do so. Is anybody else facing the same issue after the iOS 9.3.1 upgrade, and are there any possible fixes to this, although I strongly suspect it's a software issue that only Apple can sort out with an update fix?

Thanks.

So, I take it back. My bliss lasted for two days tops. I now have it acting up just as before. I have turned off bluetooth and wifi, deleted apps that are known to have issues, and have done so many hard resets. I'll be doing a restore to factory settings tomorrow. Very very frustrated.

I was wondering if you had any luck getting your 6 plus fixed? I'm having the same issues ever since the IOS 9.3.1 update. I'm pretty sure this is a software problem and not hardware. Was the Apple Store able to help? Thanks

I decided not to go to the Apple Store it's two hours away. After reading the post and knowing that my phone is out of warranty I just don't have another $900 to spend.  I did it operating system replacement and it seemed to help for about one hour. I hope they can find the problem p

I swore my problem was related to IOS 9.3 and I still think it is..BUT I took my phone in and asked to replace my battery ($79).  They gave another phone, said if the battery won't come out or tears they replace the phone.  That's when the replacement phone started freezing. After hours with tech support on the phone, restoring 3 different ways, they said go to the store.  They gave me ANOTHER phone and it restored and worked flawlessly.  SO the problem has some relationships to IOS9 BUT in my opinion they have touch screen problems with some phones whether they admit it or not.  The 2nd replacement phone worked flawlessly.

I would go in or call support and complain.  I believe this is a problem of which they are very aware.

Like is said yesterday from my previous post, i will restore my iPhone 6+ to its factory settings and so i did. I did not use my backup like i did before, instead, I installed all my apps one by one, put my contacts back (thanks to easy backup app) and thats it. The phone runs smoothly the whole day, no unresponsive screen or anything annoying happening.

But just this morning, i went to work and when i turned my phone on, the nightmare happened again! THE SCREEN IS UNRESPONSIVE AGAIN!!!!!! Honestly, I don't know what to think anymore, whether is it the iOS 9.3.1?! since this issue started happening after the update, or is it a hardware problem because it only happens on selected iPhones?!

I will definitely bring this phone to a nearby Mac Store, this is very annoying and very traumatic! Everytime i use my phone, i got a fear that the screen would freeze on me, and i hate the part where you have to soft reset your phone everytime its happening!

Its funny that we're talking about this issue in apple.com but no one from Apple is giving us an update or a solutiong to this problem.

Apple, please do something about this issue, PLEASE!

I have the same issue. Update to 9.3.1 freezes my Iphone 6 Plus 128GB all day long for 10-20 minutes. The Apple Store gave me a new Iphone 6 Plus. Same issue after 3 days.

    Please solve this!!

I had also problems, sync my music with Itunes. I searched and found /tried this https://iphonepilot.wordpress.com/2015/07/16/how-to-solve-itunes-dont-sync-ios/

    My constelation was a mismatch:

Iphone /Settings/Music / Show Apple Music: disabled

Itunes / preferences / Generaltab/ Show Apple Music enabled.

Now, Itunes "Show Music" is disabled", too. Music Sync is working, and no freezes for the moment.

    Can somebody agree with that?

just an update. I went to apple last 2 weeks ago to have my phone checked. So they did, they cant replace my phone since there is no hardware problem. What they did was, they have this option called RESEATTING, its like taking off the screen and putting it back, something like that and restore the phone into its factory settings. Now my phone works fine. No freezing and im hoping it wont happen again coz its really really traumatic. its like im so scared to use my phone because it might freeze again.

Unfortunatly, the issues we're still there, one day later.

I wen't to apple store with the Iphone i got 5 days before.

The apple store agreed the same issue on the this iphone and gave me a second new iphone.

All issue's are gone since 48 hours.

try not to use your back up in case youre using it on the new handset.
