Q: iPhone 6 Plus screen freezes after iOS 9.3.1 update

I'm usually pretty lucky with iOS updates, but as the thread title states, straight after the recent 9.3.1 upgrade on my iPhone 6 Plus, the touchscreen now freezes at random times. I'm a medium to heavy user and this annoying screen freeze happens at least twice a day, sometimes as much as 7 or 8 times with only the hard buttons (home, power, volume) that still function. This never happened before the update, and the only way out is the soft reset (home+power buttons) option. This is not just localised to a couple of apps, but seems to be anything touchscreen related.

This is becoming a real pain in the neck, especially when writing an email or text message with no way to save what is already written using copy and paste, as I obviously need the touchscreen to do so. Is anybody else facing the same issue after the iOS 9.3.1 upgrade, and are there any possible fixes to this, although I strongly suspect it's a software issue that only Apple can sort out with an update fix?

Thanks.

Update: Went to Apple store today and received a new phone at no charge because it was under warranty. they confirmed that it's a logic board problem, so no amount of restoring is going to help. I'm currently setting up my new phone! yay! Thanks Apple

Meh. You're lucky.  Most of us are outside of the warranty.  An Apple Store did open up 1 block from me in Williamsburg NYC this past Saturday, so maybe I will go soon after it calms down there. I am not looking forward to a hefty price tag as usual with anything Apple. Sigh.

Every year, it gets worse with Apple.  Fcuk Apple. Apple S-ucks. Fcuk You Apple.

So with my frozen IPhone 6 Plus screen, hardware, logic board problem that has been the basis of this thread, I made an appointment with the Apple Store that just opened  two blocks from me last week.  I thought it was still worth it to take time off of work to go and get my phone fixed.  What I thought was amazing luck turned into just another Apple run of the mill clusterfucks.  I explained the logic board issue, it clearly is the cause as I mentioned in my other posts, and they agreed that was it.  My phone "luckily" is just outside of the warranty, though.  She was all to eager to give me my choices:

    1) Buy a new phone which she said some number like $700.

    2) Sell it back for around $300 and apply to another $700 phone, costing me the difference.

They don't have a process to fix the logic board issue.  W-T-F! I babied this god damned phone.  I kept is scratch proof with that expensive glass screen cover for $40.  No scratches it is immaculate.  But the screen flickers and doesn't respond all throughout the day.  Clusterfuck.

I don't want to pay $400 for another phone when this one is practically brand new.

    Fcuk You Apple.

    FCUK.

    YOU.

    APPLE.

We have been experiencing the same issue on both my husband and my phones, we have already upgraded to 9.3.4 and still having the same issue.

Any news from Apple on this?

Yes, please see my prior posts (scroll up). It is a hardware problem, no software update will fix it.  The Apple geniuses at my Apple store know about it now also. There is no fix.  Live with it or get a new phone.  If you are under warranty, get it replaced before it goes out of warranty otherwise you will be SOL.

I am having exactly the nightmare, it is very disappointing to have all of these issues with this very expensive phone without any answers from the manufacturer.  I think Apple doesn't care about the customers

My iphone 6 plus touch screen is frozen continuously, i already rest it to the factory settings but the touch screen stills has the same problem FROZEN.  The phone has only one year and is in perfect conditions.

When i press a line, then it is activated a command that several lines up.  To introduce the password, when i press a number, then on the screen appears a different one

it is getting me crazy, i am getting disappointed with this expensive phone

After upgrading the iOS twice in my 6 plus, the problem is still there although nowhere near as bad as it was initially. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the screen protector. I have a glass screen protector on the phone and I'm wondering if some element of the fitting of this screen protector is interfering with the function of the interface?

I too have been having the same issue.  At 7 AM CST every morning I have a reminder to do something.  At 7 AM that reminder pops and my phone hangs until hard reboot.   If I don't log in to phone (i.e. enter my passcode) the reminder will continue to sound, if my sound is on, repeatedly.  In order to stop it yesterday I logged into icloud.com and marked it completed.   Rebooted my phone and the problem stopped.  This morning.  Same thing happened.  Got up 6:20is AM CST phone fine.  7 AM reminder pops, phone frozen.  IPhone 6s+.   Same fix go in mark complete.  Can log in and use phone again.

As a side note I tried in icloud.com removing "history of completed" 500 plus and got an error trying to remove them all.  It gave me an over quota delete error of sorts.  Should have screen capped it.  I am hoping my history was full or something and this has fixed the issue.

I have also since deleted the offending reminder and created a new one with a different name that means the same to me so I can still get the reminder.  I also pushed it back 1 hour in case there is something at the 7 AM CST time zone maintenance wise.  Probably way to much but as a computer programmer by trade I am thinking about what all could be causing this so moving this to make sure I don't lose my phone at 7 AM when I am supposed to be working.

Update to iOS 9.3.5 now. Not sure why the screen is freezing, but iOS 9.3.1 is an outdated update already.

Pretty ironic you mention this because I have been on 9.3.1 myself for a good deal of time now & once I upgraded to 9.33 I have had these exact same issues with the intermittently freezing or extreme latency when typing then completely freezes. happens probably 7-10 times a day screen freeze cannot scroll on spring board type or anything...

but the hard keys always function so I lock my screen then it is fine but doesn't work every time & I've upgraded my firmware 3 times in the last few weeks & issue remains.

I have had my iPhone 6 Plus for almost two years in November & understand that my device is it of warranty but this is a manufacturer defect & i feel I should be handed a replacement at least for free.

It's not like I can have this fixed & if so it will not be cheap

these have been issues for years from all what I have scoured the internet for & exact same symptoms  whether it's a hardware failure or just a screen issue I'm not sure...

but if I pay to have my screen replaced since im outside of my warranty & the issue remains.

then it is a clear manufacturer defect maybe they didn't get the soldering done well I do not know .

that should be adressed in the same mannerism as the they did with blurry camera issue which magically my device is eligible for also On the 6plus

so 9.31 to 9.33 then to 9.3.5 last week then this week ios 10 released issue still remains guess I'll be headed to my Apple Store an hour away to find out.

I tried all of this and now have had to send the phone back, again twice in under one month, this is the last iPhone or apple product I will ever use or purchase as apple do not seem to give a SXXT about their customers
