ipad cycles on and off in two minute cycles

My ipad stopped seeing my network provider so I re-started it. I'd been having problems connecting to the APP store when I noticed it wasn't connecting to the provider. After re-starting it, it started going into the cycles. I tried taking the sim card out, still cycled; tried to fit in the factory reset via settings but it failed to verify the apple server. Tried hard shutdown, didn't do anything. I did re-set all network settings and cleared the cache in the internet - that worked fine when I had service and it still cycles. I'm afraid it might be a hardware issue. I haven't just downloaded any apps or done a software update in over, I don't know two to three weeks. Help, I really don't want to throw it at the wall! Or crack it against the cement floor....By the way, I'm overseas so no quick fixes to the store and I have two months before I can get anywhere.
