No push calendar sync to iPad

If I enter new appointments in Calendar on my desktop these are 'push' synced to my iPhone via iCloud but not to my iPad.

However, if I enter a new appointment on the iPad it will then sync to my desktop and also 'fetch' any unsynced data from iCloud. In effect it is syncing on demand.

How do I persuade the iPad to automatically 'fetch' new data from iCloud? Or for iCloud to automatically push it to the iPad?

I'm logged into iCloud on all devices and on the iPad iCloud calendars are enabled.

iOS 9.3.1

iPad - settings - Mail, Contacts etc - is the setting set to "Push"

If it is then do the following

On the iPad

Log out of Find iPad

Log out of iCloud

Delete the email / calendar account

Force start the iPad

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Then sign back into all of the above

Thanks for this - it solved the problem. Since the settings were set to 'Push' I'm still not clear what had gone wrong. Still it's all working fine now so thanks once again for the help.
