Continuous request for the CalDav password

I am not sure if this is the correct community to post this question in. I have OSX server set up on a MacMini with the Calendar sharing turned on. I have a MacBook Pro whose calendars are configured to connect to that service and sync the appointments, my Iphone is also configures to sync with the same account. The problem I seem to be having is that the MacBook is incessantly asking me for the CalDav password and I can't figure out why it keeps asking. When it has asked, I supply but it keeps re-requesting it. I have removed and re-added the account data in the calendar preferences but I don't know what else to try. Versions of all the software are current. Does anyone have any ideas how I can correct this problem?

Thanks Linc but I'll need some further details.

* First, the calendar account should be set up as a generic CalDAV account, not as an OS X Server account.

It is set up this way already. Maybe my original post wasn't clear or perhaps I am not understanding what you're saying here so I'll reiterate. Please follow up with more details if I am misinterpreting. The OS X Server account exists on my MacMini and not the MacBook Pro. On the MacBook Pro the account is set up as a generic CalDAV account.

* If it is, delete the password item from your keychain in the Keychain Access application. The next time you're prompted for the password, check the box to store it in the keychain.

I didn't mention this in my original post, sorry about that, but I did try this at least twice when I couldn't stop it by deleting the account through the preferences.

On the client side I am getting this each time I am prompted:

I am still trying to sort out what's going on on the server side.

Any further insight into this issue? I've been fighting it on a server at least as early as El Capitan and am now seeing the issue on a brand new El Cap server that was configured from scratch. I've been dismissing this notification whenever it pops up on my computer, but my users don't have my patience and tend to be confused by anything that they don't recognize.
