Why doesnt my iMac recognize the USB superdrive, i feel like something is stuck in there and if so how do i get it out?

Why do you feel like something is stuck in there? A couple points about Apple's USB SuperDrive, one it won't work with Macs that shipped with a built in SuperDrive, two, the Black side with the Apple logo is the bottom.....silver side up.
