Q: zoom h5 recorder will not mount
Zoom H5 recorder is not recognized as a device when connected to Mac (Yosemite). I see a similar string of unresolved questions in Sept 2015 - any updates, or must I return the unit like the others did?

According to http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1026852-REG/zoom_h5_handy_recorder.html it uses standard SD memory cards. Unless it stores the audio in some incompatible audio file, you should be able to use the SD card reader on your Mac, or one from Sans Disk if your Mac does not have one.
Regular WMV files can be read by http://www.flip4mac.com/ or sometimes http://www.videolan.org VLC client.
Some devices use a Micro-SD card which needs a different reader than the one built-in to many Macs.
If it stores the audio as a protected WMV file, you will need to install Windows on your Mac https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2741
