Q: ipad 4 activate problem

i had the ipad for 3-4 years, my son was using it as his games etc and somehow he may have pressed reset it like new, it's asking for AppleID and password, well, i do not remember 3-4 years ago when set it up, how will i know what password nor the email is forgotten, i have tried many ways to get this sorted, still no luck.

went to Apple Support, they ain't very good, not helpful as they recommend me... to make a call....(well, I am deaf how do i make a call)

I indeed send them a email but knowing how long will they respond...

my son may have reset the ipad - i do not know but comes up like when setting up first time...

it's my ipad, one owner, wasn't given or second hand as apple website says.

Need help fast,  as my son's very frustrating (autism) and wants it back to normal. I told him "Apple had blocked the access", need to find out how to get it back.

Please help ASAP

    Your Apple ID should be your email address and it should be the Apple ID that you used to sign into this support community. Did you try using that for the ID?

    like i said i do not know the email address as i never use the icloud email, as said per screen b*****@icloud.com and secondly the password no idea as set it up 3-4 years ago....

    (i used my other AppleID from my own Ipad for get in here)

    If you are the original owner of the iPad - you may need to Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider with the original documents of purchase

    Somebody had to set up the device when it was first activated. Did you try using the link that I provided in order to recover the Apple ID?

    like i said in the first message, one owner, not second-hand or given.

    i will have to go make a genius appointment at one of those Apple Store, when i do not want to go that far.

    as working everyday.. just need a quick fix and that's back to normal (as only happens this morning, before i went to work he came at me "i can't get in."

    i was puzzeled when i saw the screen "Activate Ipad..." thought no way I remembers this at the start of the new set up, - it's looks like reset itself or my son pressed reset wrong button when trying to get wifi link.

    i was the one that set up the device, when it's first activated, (that was 3-4 year ago) i did try using the link forgot your AppleID over and over again, they said password incorrect, i tried search my email address, they did, they send link email address to unlock (how? it's in the ipad that locked, how do I do it, to check the email, how stupid)

    also they given me security question of date of birth i did, it's failed. very strange
