Adding hex tab to color picker

On my MacBook Pro several years ago, I downloaded an app or utility that enabled a Hex tab on the color picker that particularly appears in MS Office apps, but I believe in other apps, too.

On my MacBook Air, running 10.11.4, I cannot figure out how to do the same.

I see lots of apps in the App Store that can identify a hex number in a pixel, but I want to be able, not to necessarily IDENTIFY hex colors, but choose them within apps. I already know what Hex numbers I want to use, I want to be able to choose them, in Word, for example.

How can I do that?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

I use Hex Color Picker. It's abandonware but the last version is still available from this website: http://wafflesoftware.net/ of download directly from this link: you can download this special version that has checking for updates disabled.

It's a color picker plugin that goes in either the Mac HD/Library/ColorPickers folder or in your Users/Home/Library/ColorPickers folder.

It will be shown as circled in any application's color picker pane
