NVIDIA GEFORCE 7600 GT w/256 replacement 2007

Hi Guys,

My 2007 iMac 24" running a NVIDIA GEFORCE 7600 GT w/256 has gone down. (OS X 7.5)

Apple have told me it's the graphics card and due to its age is no longer supported.

Does anyone know if this is a replaceable item and whether a replacement would be available?

My other question, is it possible to somehow bypass the internal graphics card and run it from an external card?

You can use an ATI 5770 or 5780 card as a replacement. They are no longer in production, but you can find them on eBay or Amazon. Using an external graphics care would require a box for the card and a ribbon cable to connect to an internal card. Buying an older card like the ATIs would be less expensive.
