I don't know, that was all I could find from the Apple side.

Good point Allan now that you mention it, seem that over-priced gadgets will work with my Late 2012 Mac Mini's that are running El Capitan. But will not work on my Mid 2010 mac Mini, because it is only LMP Version: 2.0 (0x4)
Personally as an avid desktop user, I find myself using a mouse when forced to work on a laptop. 😉
Nope' however you can use it connected to an older Mac's with the supplied Lighting to USB cable.

den.thed,
Do you know where to find the complete sysreqs for that device? I looked at the Apple store site and the only sysreq shown is that it requires a Bluetooth 4 enabled Mac running El Cap. Notihg more detailed on this Apple site either:
http://www.apple.com/magic-accessories/
System Information on my 2010 iMac shows it is running v4:
Are there also hardware requirements?
So my Bluetooth version is: Apple Bluetooth Software Version: 4.4.4f4 17685 and I'm running El Capitan 10.11.4, so the Trackpad 2 should be fully compatible.
Thanks guys.
My LMP Version is 2.1 (0x4) So it seems I have the right software but not the hardware. So it won't work.

I believe that is correct.
Take a look at the Wireless Spec's for the 2011 iMac's
iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011) - Technical Specifications
iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) - Technical Specifications
Apple haven't made it easy, have they? My MBP 13" Mid 2012 non-Retina shows this in the specs:
and LMP version 4.0 (0x6) in System Information >BlueTooth.
So it looks like it could handle the new gold nuggets.
The web store entry is going to generate a lot of returns if people don't want to have the device tethered. Needs a MUCH better sysreq entry.
I found the tech specs for the Magic TRackpad--not much better on the requirements:
Magic Trackpad 2 - Technical Specifications
However, there is a mention of wireless connectivity that is, one more, too Zen-like for mere mortals to interpret.
