Does anyone know how to get a Canon IP3500 under el Capitan?

I have a Canon IP3500 inkjet printer. I have used it for several years. I have used it under El Capitan. I did a reinstall and now it needs a driver to function. It hadn't last week but now it does. It is not listed in the supported printers by Canon in Apple Support. It is not listed as needing driver software on the Canon support site. Does anyone know what I might do?

The iP3500 printer4 is compatible with El Capitan according to this Apple Document: Printer and scanner software available for download for your Mac - Apple Support.

First try resetting the printer system according to this Apple document: Reset the printing system on your Mac - Apple Support

If that fails download and apply the OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 Combo Update and add it again to the System/Printers & Scanners preference pane.
