the power button does not work so i pad cannot be switched off

my I pad will not turn off you hold the power button down to turn it of but it will not power off it just goes to sleep. also it is not connect to the internet even though it says it is connected to the internet. does anyone have any ideas. I also cannot connect it to the computer to do a sync as it does not recognise it. ,

Hi there,

You should be able to use Assistive Touch as it has a digital power button. It functions essentially the same. Turn on Assistive Touch

For the internet problem, first try rebooting it now, then try Resetting Network Settings in Settings > General > Reset.
