I have an old appleid that apple even says no longer exists, but a laptop i have still asks for the password. how do i make go away??

I have a laptop i got to keep from an old job. Sat in storage for a year. Now im using it again. My personal laptop is the same. Macbook Pro from 2013. I had an appleid i made with my old work email which i no longer have. This laptop keeps asking for the id's password, and keychain password. I don't remember the old password and if I even try to reset it and enter the old appleid, apple prompts that it doesnt even recognize the old id. Help!

Hi christoddlee,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

If I understand correctly, your MacBook Pro is asking for an Apple ID password which you don't have and the account is associated with an email address that you no longer have access to. The article below provides information and troubleshooting tips that can explain why this is happening and how to resolve the issue.

Call Apple Support. They can help you reset the password for this account, which is still alive. They can direct your password reset to an alternate email where you can currently receive mail. They must, of course, verify you are indeed the account holder by asking you the security questions associated with that Apple ID.

Once you have reset the password, you can, but shouldn't use the Apple ID. You should simply change the email address associated with it.
