Q: Is this Staingate/damaged AR coating?

Hi there! I own a Macbook pro Retina 13 inch late 2015, just bought it last year in September (8 Months ago). I found some stains on the middle of my screen and looks like it came from my keyboard when closed and unused for a week. Tried cleaning it with the apple cloth, but it looks permanent. I still have 5 months of warranty left. Thank you!DSC_3788.jpgDSC_3780.jpgDSC_3797.jpg

It could be, but first you should dampen the cloth and very carefully try to go over where you are experiencing those stains (Cleaning instructions here: Cleaning your Apple products - Apple Support). If you can remove them, then you don't have a problem. Often times dust can collect on the screen and become difficult to remove, and it looks no different than the AR coating issue. Another way to tell if it is the AR coating is to shine a small, bright light on that area of the screen. If it's more reflective than the surrounding area, then it is likely the coating. If not, it's probably just dust. My computer was affected by this issue and that was the test they did at the Genius Bar to determine if I had that issue.

Thanks for the reply. I went to Istore, a local authorized apple seller and they tried cleaning it thoroughly but nothing made the stains disappear. They took photos of it and sent it to their main service center. Hope this issue will be solved before it gets troublesome like the ones I saw in Staingate.org.
