    Hi Carolyn

Apple offers the following advice for maximising Apple Watch battery performance:

    • Ensure that your watch is always using the latest version of watchOS.
    • If you would prefer to disable the heart rate sensor during walking and running workouts, turn on Power Saving Mode:
      • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Workout - turn on Power Saving Mode.
    • For longer workouts, consider using a Bluetooth chest strap monitor, paired to your watch.
    • If your watch display activates more than you would prefer during general daily use, turn off the feature that activates the display when you raise your wrist:
      • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > General > Wake Screen > turn off Wake Screen on Wrist Raise.
    • Always keep both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi permanently enabled on your iPhone.

I didn't realize I could disable the heart rate sensor.  Excellent tip!
