I recently received an Iphone 4s from my friend who now has the 6s. The problem is that she cannot remember the password because she didn't set it up and hasn't used in a while. What must I do in order to get it set up to use?

What password doesn't she remember exactly?
The passcode to unlock her screen?
The password to her Apple ID?

Which password? The password to unlock the phone when it goes to sleep? For that, you restore the phone as new using iTunes. If you mean the Apple ID password that you're asked for during set up, without that password, the phone can't be activated. You'll need to get the password from whoever set it up.

SO is the phone done with? Only good for making and receiving calls? Bere without the AppleID password I cannot access anything.😟
Depending on what is not remembered they may be ways around this.
But you have not told us what they don't remember?
If she forgot her Apple ID, she can try to sue http://iforgot.apple.com and try to recover her Apple ID and password.
If she forgot the passcode to unlock the screen, then the iPhone can be restored without it.
If she forgot something else you need to tell us what it is she forgot.
Saying she forgot all the information entered when it was setup, is like saying they have amnesia and don't remember half their life.
In all honesty, this sounds more like a phone that was found, or bought from someone that was not the owner, than anything else.
