Q: Photos is no longer displaying the correct capture time

Until recently, jpegs imported into Photos from Lightroom displayed the correct Capture Time in the Info panel. Now the Modification time is displayed. Does anyone know why this has changed? Jpegs imported on 15 Mar 2016 behaved properly, but since 21 Mar 2016 the Modification time has been displayed. I can not remember if we had an update for Photos in March; I am currently using Photos 1.5. Any advice would be welcome.

The answer is about the same but substitute iPhoto or iDVD.  That is

First find and delete the following files/folders:

    1 - in the Library/Preferences folder:

    Finder001.jpg
    2 - in the Library/Caches folder:

    Finder002.jpg

Reboot and try check the dates again.  You may have to import another file to test.

I had tried this without success. I'm afraid I lost patience today and set up a new user, moved my stuff over, messed about with permissions and a few other things and now have a working system again. After a while I intend to delete the old user, once I'm sure I haven't forgotten anything. Thanks again for your help.

I Do not know about importing from Lightroom but what I have discovered is that the Photos program will display a time image was created based upon the time set in your computer or iPhone. I took photos in London on my iPhone with the time set for London time. I then went to New York and set my iPhone to New York time. The imbedded EXIF data has the actual date and time created. But when I returned to Pacific Coast Daylight time and set my phone to that time, all photos now display the time the photos were taken in Pacific Coast time, not actual time of capture. This affects how time is displayed on iPhone iPad (IOS 10 and earlier) and El Capitan MAC versions of Photos program.
