when i try to launch IDVD i get a little window : [developer tools need access to take control of another  process for debugging to continue, type your password to allow this.]

it has my user name on it , i typed my password it goes off and nothing happens.

IDVD doesn't come on so i cant tell what version it is, i always run all the updates that come.

from the application in the finder it said [IDVD 23-7-2011   105.4 MG.]

I have just discover my  POPCORN 4 doesn't launch also.

I just tried to start iDVD  and I got a pop-up that said:

"atos needs to take control of another process for debugging to continue.  Type your password to allow this."

As I don't know what this is I cancelled out and then immediately go the following:

"Developer Tools Access needs to take control of another process for debugging to continue.  Type your password to allow this."

Again I have cancelled out as I have no clue what this or if it is safe.   iDVD will not run after I cancelled out.

Do either of you have the Xcode Developer Tools installed?  That seems to be what's causing the problem.  It apparently has a debugging feature and that's trying to work on iDVD.  What do you have set to open at lunch in the System/Users & Groups/Login Items preference pane?  Anything related to Xcode?

First download and run Etrecheck.  Copy and paste the results into your reply. Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here (and recommended by Apple Support personnel) in the ASC to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance.

Next, you have Clean My Mac installed.  Uninstall it according to the developer's instructions.  To find out how do a Google search for uninstall Clean My Mac X, with x being the version you have installed.

You can check to see if you've removed all of the files by downloading and running Find Any File to search for any files with the application's name  and the developer's name in the file name.  For example for CleanMyMac you'd do two searches:

    1 - Name contains cleanmymac

    2 - Name contains macpaw

Any files that are found can be dragged from the search results window to the Desktop for deletion.

FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't like invisible folders, system folders and packages.

Do either of you have the Xcode Developer Tools installed?

I cannot find Xcode on my system and I have no memory of ever installing it, nor do I know what to do with it if I had it!

My problem may be related to Dragon Dictate 5.   As long as Dragon Dictate 5 is not running iDVD seems to be happy. When things went crazy, I was able to do a force quit of iDVD and get control back of my computer.

When Dragon Dictate 5 Crashes, there is NO force quit!    The Option + Command + Escape keys gives a window that shows ALL running applications except Dragon Dictate 5!

If those two folders are empty you can just forget about them.  Yes, run Etrecheck again.
