hi there.
my apple tv 3rd gen just receives audio when I try to send any video on airplay. I can hear sounds but no video.
the funny thing is that all my devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch show an old iPod icon when I open airplay menu. I even can´t find the mirror option
any ideas? ( i tried in different networks and same issue. apple tv and iPhone are updated)

Are ATV and other devices on the same wifi network? Is ATV connected to TV by HDMI cable?
Is AirPlay enabled on ATV? From your description, it does sound as if ATV is identifying itself as capable of audio only.
Does ATV have internet connection? Can you play video using an ATV app?
Explanation: when you AirPlay audio, the stream is actually downloaded to your device and sent from device to ATV. When you AirPlay video, the stream identifier is sent to ATV, which downloads the stream itself. So, AirPlaying a video is almost the same as using an ATV app.
As always, power cycling ATV cannot hurt.
Problem likely with ATV. Do a restart, if no progress do a restore.

Just to clarify, the appearance of the iPod icon in the AirPlay menu is not unusual, it just indicates that the device accepts audio only. So the problem is to determine why ATV is doing this; either the software is corrupted or there's some connection/configuration issue.
