Also PowerPC iMacs could only run up to Mac OS X 10.5.8 with the fastest PowerPC chip. The older iMac G3 models could only be upgraded to Mac OS X 10.3.9. They were the only ones that could run some version of the old Classic Mac OS 9 operating system that had no relationship with the iOS 9 of today. The earliest iMac PPC were old tube style TV screens, and the latest iMac PPC looked very similar on the outside to the oldest Intel model, except it had a mini-VGA port instead of mini-DVI, and the EMC# on the foot helped tell the difference between the two. The inside though is very difference. Intel Macs can run Windows natively and can't run Classic operating systems. So if get an older white iMac, be sure to lookup the EMC# and we can help you identify it.
