Adding only music to Itunes

So here is how it is. Chat support could not help and told me to submit a feedback. FANTASTIC

I have a few 2TB harddrives. they all have media all over them, in there subfolders and whatnot. .avi, .mp3 .mp3 .mpeg .srt ETC

I want to add the harddrives to Itunes without it adding anything but my music. I dont want to go into my harddrives and organize everything, thats what the media players are for no? i was told to drag and drop what i wanted into my library or go folder to folder. thats just silly and unacceptable. how is there no way for me to tell itunes to only add music. i dont want to use Itunes but alas i have an ipod and an iphone that will not work with any other program(thanks for that) unless i pay for it(which im seriously debating at this point)

Now im not a programmer so i may not understand how ' add folder to library ' works, but im sure it reads all the files and adds all known extensions to itunes. this should not be an issue at all, and quite frankly should be a fairly easy solution to specify what i want it to add...

You will have to use a third party tool (if there is one) or do it by hand selectively. iTunes is designed to add any media files it knows how to play, not just one kind or another. Sure, something like that could be programmed into it but I can see how a company would decide it isn't worth paying a programmer's salary for including a feature that few people would want, and most probably wouldn't understand and would then come back to Apple complaining that it was making iTunes complicated by having it ask them questions when adding media.

I don't know about iTunes for Windows but iTunes for Mac won't play .avi and also does not support .srt so those would not be added.
