when i turn on my computer i get a file icon with a question mark after trying to erase everything. what do i do?

I was wanting to erase everything on my computer and start over but when I went through the process when I restarted my computer I get a file icon with a question mark on it? what do I do to fix this?

Restart from the disk or recovery system you used to erase the internal drive and install an OS from it.

To restart in Internet Recovery restart and hold Command R as soon as the computer restarts (you’ll hear the chime). When the Apple icon appears you can release the keys.
