How to reset two-step verification code that is being sent to old phone number.

I just upgraded to 10.11.4 El Capitan. I want to use the two-step verification code but the activation code is being sent to an old phone number attached to my apple ID. I've done an online login and was able to turn off two-step verification for now. I went to the "manage account" to find where to update the verified phone number that the text messages are going to. I do not see where that information is to edit it. A phone number is not being listed in my security section of my account. Where do I find this outdated information to update it?

Thanks, Janet D

Thank you for your links. I checked both of these links and neither had my old phone number listed. I was able to add my new phone number to the "supportprofile" link. I will have to wait a few days before I can reactivate the two-step verification process (per apple's requirement). I hope the addition of my current phone number to my profile will allow a verification code to be sent to the correct SMS number.

Thanks!

The only other place to associate a cell phone number to your Apple ID would be with Messaging & FaceTime on iOS devices. IF the wrong number shows in either of those, you would sign out of both apps on the iOS devices. Signing back in will associate the new number with those apps.

This is probably more of what you are looking for.

I've not set up 2 step verification, but you enter a number on the first screen for 2 to receive the verification on:

Thank you for more suggestions. I looked into my settings for Facetime and Messaging. Both have my current phone number correctly. I will have to wait the Apple requirement of 48 hours before I can reactivate my two-step verification process. I hope I get to the screen you have above which allows me to put in a phone number. I will know more once I attempt this.

Thanks, Janet
