Q: Trying to extend my wifi network coverage.

I want to extend my home wifi. I have a Motorola router connected to an Airport extreme via ethernet cable. Can I now run an ethernet cable from airport extreme to another airport device to "extend" the network/coverage??

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

Yes, that would the basis for a roaming type extended network. Let us know if you require any further assistance in setting it up.

Can I use my existing wireless network and add an Ethernet cable to connect my extreme with an express and extend my wireless coverage?

Yes, you already asked whether this was possible, and Tesserax previously confirmed that you could do this.

Perhaps rather than asking "If" you can do this....(yes you can)....are you really meaning to ask "how" you can do this?

    Yes.

In a roaming network, all base stations need to be interconnected by Ethernet. So in this case, the Extreme would be connected to the Motorola router by Ethernet, and the Express connected to the Extreme with another Ethernet cable.

The Motorola router would be your "main" router in this configuration, and both AirPorts would need to be reconfigured as bridges. All routers would need to be broadcasting their own Wi-Fi network, but all must use the same network name (or SSID) and use the same wireless security type & password.

If the AirPort Extreme is already set up and providing a wireless signal, you can use Apple's configuration "wizard" to set up the AirPort Express.  All that you need to do is enter a device name for the Express......the wizard takes care of everything else automatically to configure the correct settings.

Post back if you are not familiar with the setup "wizard" and need a few tips.
